“Even Osama gotta respect Obama…”
Known mostly as the “muscle” of the Gang Starr foundation, Big Shug is showing a more inspective side with his latest song “New Era.” This track features a montage of influential people from black history ranging from music to politics. It appropriately ends with a picture of departed friend Guru. Shug’s singing isn’t the best, but it doesn’t kill the overall vibe of the song. It’s cool to hear these type of joints dropping again. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for artists to not confine this side of themselves to just Black History Month.
“New Era” is produced by Kid Called Quest. It will be off the upcoming album I.M. 4-eva.
