In this first look clip for Amazon Studio’s biopic I Play Rocky, Sylvester Stallone finds inspiration for writing the script of his defining role as Rocky.
Stallone, played by Anthony Ippolito, expresses doubts in his own capabilities, referencing Orson Welles as someone who was a genius and capable of writing an impactful script. Sasha (AnnaSophia Robb), Stallone’s then-girlfriend and eventual wife, urges him to embrace his creativity and everything that makes him unique, starting with his name: Sylvester.
Written and directed by Peter Farrelly, I Play Rocky tells the story of how Sylvester Stallone “bet everything on himself” to bring one of cinema’s classic underdog stories to life.
I Play Rocky arrives in select theaters on November 6 and everywhere on November 20
