Arthur Abraham’s TKO Over Stjepan Bozic [VIDEO], Is He Ready for Andre Ward?

An errant hand injury to Stjepan Bozic (24-5, 15 KOs) put Arthur Abraham (32-2, 26 KOs) back in the win column with a second round TKO last Saturday (February 12).

An errant hand injury to Stjepan Bozic (24-5, 15 KOs) put Arthur Abraham (32-2, 26 KOs) back in the win column with a second round TKO last Saturday (February 12).

The fight was made as a confidence builder to allow Abraham to focus on dealing with movement, the main factor behind his difficulties against Andre Dirrell and Carl Froch in his last two fights.

Abraham retained his trademark high guard, but made more effort to jab with his opponent and work the body with hard hooks. In the second round, Bozic took a knee in immense pain after injuring his left hand on Abraham’s elbow. The referee and ringside physician gave Bozic time to recover, but the handicapped fighter opted to quit the bout.

The win gives Abraham his first win since defeating Jermain Taylor in their Super Six opening bout in October 2009. Arthur Abraham will face Andre Ward in the Super Six semi-finals in May.

**************************************************************

I saw some minor improvements, but essentially the same Arthur Abraham. Even though he’s just turned 30, Abraham has been fighting this way his entire career. There’s little chance he’ll be able to do the 180 needed to able to compete against Ward. I envision Ward bullying Abraham and possibly scoring a late TKO. Unfortunately for Arthur Abraham, the blueprint is out on him.
