HBO’s dramatized version of the hit video game franchise The Last of Us is now confirmed to debut on January 15 at 9 p.m. ET.
Starring Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) as the franchise’s beloved main characters, the story takes place “20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed” by a parasitic, fungal plague that turns victims into murderous, zombie-like creatures. Joel, a smuggler, is hired to transport 14-year old Ellie from an oppressive quarantine zone leading to a bloody and emotional journey across a ravaged United States.
The nine-episode first season also stars Merle Dandridge, Gabriel Luna, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce and Anna Torv.
