13 years are disturbing audiences with the surprise hit Orphan, the origins of the devious Esther will be explored with Orphan: First Kill (August 19).
Set as prequel, First Kill follows Esther after escaping a psychiatric facility and arriving in America where she infiltrates a wealthy family by impersonating their missing daughter. Once Esther’s facade shows cracks through “unexpected twists,” she’s forced to face off with a mother “who will protect her family from the murderous ‘child’ at any cost.”
Actress Isabell Fuhrman, now 25, returns as Esther but sans deaging CGI, leaving questions on how the story will address her now mature look and how she’s still able to deceive a family. The project also stars Rossif Sutherland and Julia Stiles.
Orphan: First Kill is streaming August 19 on Paramount+. The film is directed by William Brent Bell, screenplay by David Coggeshall, and story by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Alex Mace.
