You’re only as good as your last fight. No one knows that better than Oscar Valdez, who despite being undefeated and the WBC super featherweight champion, is viewed as a significant underdog this Saturday (April 30) against WBO champion Shakur Stevenson. In some circles, Valdez is even being called a stepping stone to Stevenson’s Pound 4 Pound ascent similar to Diego Corrales against Floyd Mayweather in 2001. Valdez explained to BeatsBoxingMayhem why he’s relishing the underdog role just he did against Miguel Berchelt, a fight where he delivered the 2021 Knockout of the Year.
The fight card begins at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
