With a little over a month to spare, HBO has finally delivered the much-speculated on trailer for Game of Thrones season 8.
Although we barely get a glimpse of the Night King and his minions, their presence dominates the trailer’s focus. We find Jaime affirming his stance to “fight for the living” while Arya shows no fear in preparing to meet this “new face of death.” On the love side, Grey Worm and Missandei’s bond continues to deepen even as the former faces down probable death on the White Walker battlefield.
Above all, the most intriguing visuals are those of Jon and Dany. See them leading their troops is awesome enough, but the most breathtaking is the above clip of them possibly riding into battle atop Drogon and Rhaegel. With their shared Targaryean heritage, it makes sense as the final measure to take down the Night King and the reanimated Viserion.
Queen Cersei is her usual evil self, but her face shows some fear in her final clip. Sansa isn’t shown with any other character, making you wonder what part she ‘ll play in the Battle of Winterfell and whether she’ll fully back Jon and Dany (or side with Tyrion’s apparent disapproval).
The countdown continues as Game of Thrones season 8 airs on April 14.
