BROOKLYN — The weights are in for the “Battle for Brooklyn” Saturday night when Daniel Jacobs defends his WBA World title against Peter Quillin. Both men were in excellent shape with no visible weight issues. Quillin tipped the scales at 159, and Jacobs at 159.5.
PREDICTION: This is a good fight that can go either way. Over the last week, I have flip-flopped my opinion several calls. Today, I’m settling on Peter Quillin by KO. I feel Jacobs has better technical skill and will likely outbox Quillin for significant stretches. But Quillin is a very big and strong middleweight. He’s not long for the division and will put on anywhere from 16-20 pounds overnight, giving him a clear advantage. In addition, Quillin is the bigger, more explosive puncher, and likely more durable based on their resumes against elite competition.
The card airs Saturday starting at 9 p.m. with a co-feature of Jesus Cuellar vs. Jonathan Oquendo.
