LOS ANGELES, CA — Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo made a triumphant return last night with a crushing, one-punch KO of Saul Casarez on the undercard of Mares vs. Moreno at the Staples Center.
Angulo had not fought since suffering a sixth round TKO loss to James Kirkland last November and being detained in Mexico for seven months earlier this year on visa issues. Casarez wasted no time and bringing the fight to Angulo on the inside, landing a few short chopping rights that backed up El Perro. The success was fool’s gold, as Casarez tried to exchange with Angulo one too many times and was separated from his senses with a perfectly timed Angulo left hook.
The emotional win improves Angulo’s record to 21-2 with 18 KOs.
