WROCLAW, POLAND — Vitali Klitschko surprised many at today’s weigh-in for tomorrow’s title defense against Tomasz Adamek by posting his lowest fighting weight since 1998. Klitschko, noticeably more defined, tipped the scales at 242 pounds, his lowest weight since defeating Francesco Spinelli by first round TKO in December 1998. Adamek weighed in at 216 pounds, in line with his weight average over the last year. The fighters completed an intense staredown with Adamek being the first to break the glare. Tomorrow night’s (September 10) bout will be Adamek’s first heavyweight title shot and Klitschko’s eighth title defense. HBO will air the bout live in the United States at 4:45 PM.
