Rapper Doe B (Glenn Thomas), signee to T.I.’s Hustle Gang imprint, was shot and killed along with 21-year-old bystander Kim Johnson early Saturday morning at the Centennial Hill Bar and Grill in Montgomery, Alabama.

According to early reports, including one from the club’s manager DJ Frank White, the rapper was the only intended target. He and the bystander Kim Johnson, who just recently celebrated her 21st birthday, were pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Six others were also injured in the shooting.

Known as the Rose Supper Club a year ago, the venue has its liquor license revoked in January due to a December 2012 shooting.

Easily recognizable due to an eyepatch over his right eye from a previous shooting, the 22-year-old Doe B had signed with Hustle Gang earlier this year. He also recently released a DJ Scream-hosted mixtape entitled Baby Jesus.

At press time, authorities have not disclosed if there were multiple gunmen involved.

T.I. took to his official Instagram this morning to offer tribute.

RIP to my lil brother Doe B. We gon miss u my nigga. U’ll never be forgotten & U WILL NOT DIE IN VAIN. We Love U champ. Always. Just rest now my nigga….WE GOT IT From here.

Hyped yet for Pusha T’s solo debut, My Name Is My Name? If not, here’s one last push (pun intended) in that direction courtesy of this video for the album’s intro. Yes, you read the title right — Joaquin Phoenix is behind the boards with Kanye. Although the album has way too many features for my liking, this and “Numbers On the Board” make me optimistic we’ll get one of the better albums of the year.

With his debut album (New York: A Love Story) set to drop on September 30, Mack Wilds (Tristan Wilds) gives a in-depth look at the producers behind the project. The kid has a lineup that would make a lot of rappers jealous — DJ Premier, Havoc (Mobb Deep) and Pete Rock are a few the big names gracing the LP. You can pre-order the album HERE.

Schoolboy Q

Schoolboy Q is back with a new Renegades-produced track off his forthcoming major-label album Oxymoron. With no release date nailed down, it’s wise of the Black Hippy Crew member to keep the freebies coming. Would you be happy with this sound for an entire project?

Oddisee will be packaging a new mixtape, entitled Tangible Dream, with all purchases of his instrumental album The Beauty In All (October 1). To wet your appetite for the tape’s sound, here’s the first offering available as a free download. The Beauty In All can be pre-ordered HERE.

I wanted each song to represent a different stage of Sonny’s life. On ‘Dismal,’ he’s battling with himself to regain his position at the top… It was enjoyable to create a song where i jump back and forth between the character’s voice and that of his conscience.

Who is Sonny, you ask? He’s the fictional protagonist for Black Milk’s forthcoming album No Poison No Paradise. Having failed at his dreams of becoming a successful rapper or athlete, Sonny struggles with depression and deciding what to do next with his life. No release date yet on the album.

Who says conscious rappers don’t love to stunt? Directed by himself and Kenzi Sonoda, Kweli’s latest video off Prisoner of Conscious has him taking in the Tokyo nightlife. I might have to book my own trip. The track is produced by Trend.
