In the midst of planning a new tour, J. Cole lets loose with a throwback freestyle entitled “Album of Year.” The throwback term is appropriate on several fronts. The selected beat is an obvious homage to one of Cole’s artistic inspirations (Nas). The lyrical flow also harkens back to Cole’s early mixtape work.
What’s going to really catch people’s ears is Cole crowning himself as having the best flow since B.I.G., and detailing the upcoming rollout of his Dreamville roster (which includes a new Cole project entitled The Off Season).
How dope would it be if The Off Season is a mixtape with Cole rhyming over all 90s beats?
