Another disastrous wedding in Westeros, this time Targaryen style! For episode five of House of the Dragon, I discuss the embarrassing emotional unraveling of Criston Cole and the huge potential ramifications for the kingdom. With Viserys continuing to falter by the day, the political manueverings for the crown can only intensify. Other topics for this recap include:
- What Rhea Royce’s appearance and death reveals about Daemon
- Lyonel the new Hand’s secret weapon in the battles to come
- How Otto transformed Alicent into the wartime queen she needs to be
- The high bar set by Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower
These people certainly know how to NOT pull off a wedding. I love the way the Queen played this, providing a subtle yet memorable way to indicate she is not down with the plan. The players are getting in position for the “stretch run” now. Sorry to see Lady Rhea Royce meet her demise. I would have liked to see more of her.
Rhea was great in her short time and I’m hopeful there’s more women like her from that house who’ll be looking for revenge. Perhaps that might end up being Daemon’s downfall. Finishing up this week’s recap and boy was it a doozy.
