Showtime Championship Boxing has returned with a chilling knockout. In the opener of Angelo Leo vs. Tramaine Williams card, Joe George ended his rivalry with Marcos Escudero with a come from behind left uppercut knockout in the ninth round.
The two met last November with George winning a highly controversial decision. Tonight, the bout’s pattern was George firing sporadic counter shots while Escudero outworked him with body shots along the ropes. Going into the ninth, George trailed 79-73 on two cards when Escudero lingered too long inside with his head turned away from George’s free left hand. The Houston native fired a perfect left uppercut that sent Escudero careening to the canvas.
The back of Escudero’s head smacked the canvas with a sickening thud. The Argentinian managed to weakly raise his upper body as the referee counted 10.
George remains undefeated (11-0, 7 KOs). Escudero falls to 10-2 (9 KOs)
