After an injury-plagued 2019, Roman “Chocolatito” gained a measure of progress by getting back into the ring and disposing of journeyman Diomel Diocos in just two rounds.
Gonzalez carried 15 months of ring rust but had no problems overwhelming Diocos with his signature combination punching. Diocos received a standing eight-count and was quickly dispatched afterward by eight unanswered blows.
Looking ahead to 2020, Gonzalez will have to conquer his biggest foe, inactivity, to become a force again at super flyweight.
