Juelz Santana plead guilty to felony gun possession and carrying a weapon on an aircraft in Newark federal court on Thursday (August 16).
Santana, real name Laron James, was arrested in March after a .38 caliber handgun and nonprescription oxycodone pills were found in his carry-on bag at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Santana fled the scene while security searched his bag. He turned himself in three days later and has been free on $500,000 bail.
On December 12, Santana will be sentenced and faces up to 20 years as a convicted felon. In 2013, he received two years probation for pleading guilty to assaulting then girlfriend Kim “Bella” Vanderhee. The previous year, Santana was arrested after a raid of his studio yielded two 9mm handguns and three ounces of marijuana.
Santana’s last album was 2005’s What the Game’s Been Missing!

Considering Santana’s legal team has been working on a plea deal for weeks, the possibility of him getting 20 years is extremely low. 3-5 years is likely, and with fed time you’re required to do 85% of that sentence.
In other words, the 36-year old Santana is likely going away until he’s 40 or close to it. All because he forgot he had guns in his bag. Leave the pills alone, people.
