To continue building the anticipation for the February 16 release of Marvel’s Black Panther, Top Dawg has dropped the second offering from the soundtrack in “King’s Dead.” It’s billed as a Jay Rock track and you’ll understand why when you hear him spazz on the opening verse. Future goes into strange territory when he begins using weird voices (was that supposed to be some type of homage to Kendrick?). And Kenny plays the closer and gets the benefit of a beat switch.
Since this is also being billed as the first single from Jay Rock’s next project, it would have made more sense for his verse to go last. However, it’s a small nitpick for an overall solid track. The soundtrack will be available February 9.
