To continue building the anticipation for the February 16 release of Marvel’s Black Panther, Top Dawg has dropped the second offering from the soundtrack in “King’s Dead.” It’s billed as a Jay Rock track and you’ll understand why when you hear him spazz on the opening verse. Future goes into strange territory when he begins using weird voices (was that supposed to be some type of homage to Kendrick?). And Kenny plays the closer and gets the benefit of a beat switch.

Since this is also being billed as the first single from Jay Rock’s next project, it would have made more sense for his verse to go last. However, it’s a small nitpick for an overall solid track. The soundtrack will be available February 9.

You never know where Kung Fu Kenny is going to end up these days. Still basking in the acclaim of his DAMN project, Kendrick hops on Future’s “Mask Off” for a reflective verse. Expect thisĀ feauture to be a bit polarizing as it’s a marked departure from the original’s toneĀ with inflections that are at times reminiscent ofĀ Bone Thugs. Content-wise, he takes a surreal attitude at his success.

Platinum Platinum Platinum

Gotta look at self andĀ ask what happened

How y’all let a conscious nigga go commercial while only making conscious albums

How y’all let the braids on TV

How y’all let the hood at the table

Now y’all don’t even know how to rate him…

Check it out and drop your thoughts.
