Reports have been confirmed that Duck Down Records member Sean Price died early Saturday morning in his sleep. He was 43.
Price began his career in the mid-90s under the moniker Ruck as one-half of the duo Heltah Skeltah. He featured prominently on Duck Down releases from labelmates Black Moon, O.G.C., Smif N Wessun and the label’s supergroup Boot Camp Clik. In addition, Price recorded well-received collaborative projects with Random Axe (with Guilty Simpson and Black Milk) and M-Phazes.
In the mid-2000s, the Ruck name was discarded for Sean Price and a critically-acclaimed solo career via the albums Monkey Barz, Jesus Price Superstar and Mic Tyson.
News of Price’s passing was broke on Twitter by DJ Premier.
