Eminem – “Berzerk” [Prod. by Rick Rubin]

The first leak from the just announced sequel to the Marshall Mathers LP has Em’s trademark lyrical wit aimed at celebrities (in this case the Kardashians), and Rick Rubin’s unmistakable guitar-heavy boom-bap. The throwback production, courtesy of sampling Billy Squire of “Big Beat” fame, gives this offering a much more traditional Hip-Hop feel than what Eminem historically displays on his “humor” singles (“The Real Slim Shady,” “Without Me” etc.). And while I wouldn’t bet on Eminem’s new album sounding like the 2013 version of LL’s Radio like the above cover implies, we can probably be assured we’ll hear a more subdued, focused effort from Em over the scream-fest that Recovery turned into at times.

MMLP2 hits stores on November 5.

  1. Not sure about this, its abit too busy… And calling his album MMLP2 just tarnishes the the original one, hes never gonna go back to that style, theres still gonna be funny voices and screaming… Im liking the Beastie Boys nod with this tune, bit like I said its abit too busy… Em and Rick will be interesting though, Im looking forward to seeing how it turns out…
