Daniel Jacobs

On tonight’s edition of Bad Culture Radio, I join host Jeandra LeBeauf to recap last night’s debut of Golden Boy Live! on Fox Sports 1, Sergey Kovalev’s”hammering” of Nathan Cleverly, and the mini-controversy surrounding Darren Barker’s upset win over Daniel Geale. We’ll also discuss Zab Judah’s recent “promotional signing deal” with Golden Boy, Khan-Alexander, and much more. The show begins tonight at 8 p.m. PST with the call-in number being (347) 945-6550. 1. Keep doing your thing Ismael, but yo the sound quality on that blog is poor and the host is boring as hell, she doenst interact at all either, I wont be checking her blog again in a hurry lol

She also doent know what she’s on about concerning Cleverly saying it was poor match making etc… I didnt think Clev would win, but didnt expect such a poor performance either… It was American TV exposure which Cleverly has needed big time, hes got a granite chin and good movement, he could of boxed and kept Kovalev at bay and been in a competitive entertaining fight, and even if he lost he could of still been a hit in America, but unfortunately he didnt make use of his good movement or reach and fought the wrong fight, one thing he needs to do is get rid of his dad as his trainer…

I dont think Cleverly will retire, but hes been to Uni and got a degree in mathematics whist being a professional fighter, so he has the opportunity to still have a successful career outside of boxing, so its not like he needs to fight to survive… I will say though that Ive never like Terry O’Connor’s refereeing…

The Barker fight wasnt really a controversy, you always get one wide score in most fights, I expect it these days, but the right guy in My opinion won on the night (i admit im bias haha) Sturm is finished, so I think Barker will win that, after that I dont want the Murray fight to happen, Im a fan of both of fighters and I wouldnt want either fighter to get knocked down a run in the ladder, so after Strum I would like him to fight Peter Quillin, as I think its a winnable match up, I think Quillin is slightly overrated…

    1. Appreciate the kind words, brother. The host started her site less than a year ago so give her some time to hit her stride. Remember how rough I was when I started on AllHipHop? haha

I think it was a horrible idea for Cleverly to have that important of a fight at home. Mentally he seemed unsure of himself. I expect him to be back in the mix. Wouldn’t be surprised if Ward tried to bring him over.

Quillin-Barker would be a nice scrap. Quillin’s hype seems to evaporated mostly with GGG emergence. He needs a marquee fight to keep his name out there and unification w/ Barker does just that. Sign me up for that one.
