Price: 250 lbs.
Thompson: 259 lbs.
Prediction: David Price’s rep as a heavyweight to watch took a serious hit when Tony Thompson took him out in two rounds with a cuffing shot high on the head. Price, who equaled his career-high weight of 250 pounds on the scales today, will have a lot prove and can’t afford to look gunshy. Thompson was supposed to be cannon fodder and from the looks of the weigh-in, the white tee reinforces that he’s not in the best shape. If Price can’t beat Thompson, a fighter in the twilight of his career, in decisive fashion, then he’s already reached his heavyweight ceiling.
With that said, Price should pull this out. The talent level favors him and I don’t think Price’s chin is as bad as the first fight makes it appear to be. Thompson’s only chance is another KO, and I think Price will fight smart and wear his first conqueror down in route to a late TKO.
