Is heartbroken Mary back? Just a few months removed from a contentious divorce from Kendu Isaacs, her husband/manager of 10 years, Mary J returns with some soulful mood music in “U + Me (Love Lesso).” It’s one of those “pain anthems” that Blige made her name on in the 90s.

We may very well be reaching by attaching this song to Blige’s personal life. Nonetheless, the most important thing is the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul sounds like she’s in the zone. Her 13th album doesn’t have a release date, but will be entitled Strength of a Woman.

Raekwon is back in the 90s this week for #tbt, ripping a quick verse on Mary J. Blige’s My Life classic, “All Night Long.” Who’s next? SWV? En Vogue? TLC? Monica? Keep cooking, Chef.


Mary J. Blige’s The London Sessions, her joint album with the production duo Disclosure, is set for a December 2 release. Yesterday, Mary dropped a video chronicling her studio time during her recent trip to London. This is a good example of¬†updating your sound and still maintaining the core qualities your core audience loves.

For her upcoming album (The London Sessions), Mary J.¬†Blige partnered with British act Disclosure to produce a project defined by London’s house music landscape. “Right Now” is our first glimpse¬†of their efforts. Whether the general public will take to this is a question mark, but house fans should be pleased.


Even if you’re agnostic or atheist, it’ll be tough not to feel this one. For the Black Nativity¬†soundtrack, Mary J. Blige¬†and Nas link up once again for a beautiful and soulful rendition of the hymn “Rise Up Shepher and Follow.” There is a seamless beat change for Nas’ verse and those rhythms ride out the rest of the song perfectly.

Mary J. Blige and Nas linked up for a performance of their My Life II single on Amex UNSTAGED. For a lot of R&B fans who came of age in the early and mid 90s, the original My Life album holds a lot of weight, so Mary J. absolutely has to come with it and trump her work over the last decade. My Life II is in stores today (November 22).
