[Video] It’s Happening! Nas Confirms ‘Lost Tapes 2’ for July 19

This is not a drill!

The wait is over. After years of false starts, speculation and label drama, Nas is blessing his core fans with the long-awaited Lost Tapes II on July 19.

Nas released a teaser trailer last month alluding to the compilation being on the way. But with no date listed, fans speculated the project wouldn’t see the light of day until later in the year. Instead, fans will get the release in roughly two weeks.

Even better, the tracklist answers the prayers of most by featuring TWO official tracks with Pete Rock (marking their first collaborations with Illmatic’s “The World Is Yours”). The trailer’s music features a smooth track from Statik Selektah that samples the vintage soul of Angela Bofill. The RZA, Kanye West, Alchemist, Pharrell, No I.D., DJ Khalil, Hit Boy, and Swizz Beatz also have placements.

If there’s a downside, it’s maybe the fact this collection centers on 2006-2018, meaning those seeking remastered or new leaks from the 90s Nas Escobar era are left in the cold. Outside of that, there’s little to complain about. Let the countdown to July 19 begin.
