Sources have confirmed the death of music icon Prince, who was found today at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota. He was 57.
On April 15, Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson) experienced an undisclosed medical emergency that required an emergency landing of his private jet in Illinois. Reps for the singer stated he was battling the flu, which caused the cancellation of two recent concerts. Prince made his last stage appearance on April 14.
Beginning his career in the mid 70s, Prince has sold over 100 million records and amassed seven Grammy wins. He catapulted to international icon status with his legendary 80s run that produced the classic albums Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain and Sign o’ the Times. He was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
At the time of his passing, Prince was working on a memoir entitled The Beautiful Ones.
