There’s a lot to unpack from the just-released official trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

We start with Luke Skywalker beginning his training of Rey and being horrified of the natural ability she possesses. Why? Because it reminds him of the power that was unleashed during the destruction of the last Jedi Academy (committed by Kylo Ren and the First Order). We see images of the temple burning and will likely get flashbacks of the whole incident.

We also see Rey seeming to confront the mysterious General Snoke, and getting the worst of it. Snoke’s voiceover has him marveling over someone’s power, but is it Rey or Kylo’s?

Speaking of Kylo, he has a lot of making up to do after getting bested last movie by a light saber rookie. He looks to be doing that in spades with a space battle sequence that mirrors Luke’s destruction of the first Death Star. However, this time the target appears to be Princess Leia. Will Kylo’s promise to “bury the past” mean killing both his parents?

Finn is well-recovered from his injuries and locked in a duel with General Phasma. This is an intriguing battle for several reasons. One, Finn appears to have progressed from comedic and skittish sidekick to a capable fighter and leader. Second, we get to see how deadly Phasma is in hand to hand combat, which she has to be considering her place in Snoke’s army.

Finally, we have what I believe is misdirection in Kylo appearing to offer his hand to Rey for an alliance. I can’t see them giving that away in a trailer, meaning this is possibly two separate scenes (Kylo in the burning temple and Rey training with Luke or facing Snoke).

All questions get answered on December 15.

For those Star Wars fans needing a holdover until The Last Jedi’s Christmas release, look no further than Battlefront II.

Electronic Arts listened to the fans and have added an intriguing single-player mode that puts you in the character of Iden, an elite stormtrooper who leads a group of Empire loyalists after the Death Star’s destruction. Add to that an expanded multi-player mode, new favorites like Rey and Kylo Ren, and new customization modes that will surely give Star Wars fans the immersive experience they crave.

Battlefront II hits stores on November 17.

Star Wars Icon Carrie Fisher Dead at 60

Carrie Fisher, immortalized as Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars cinematic universe, has died today after suffering a heart attack. She was 60 years old.

Family spokesman Simon Halls confirmed the news in a prepared statement on behalf on Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” the statement read. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

On Friday December 23, Fisher was on a flight from London to Los Angeles when she went into cardiac arrest. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and was believed to be in stable condition before passing this morning.

Fisher made her film debut in Warren Beatty’s Shampoo, but achieved worldwide fame at the age of 19 in 1977’s Star Wars. She remained a driving force of female empowerment in the series, later starring in the The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and returning to the series last year in The Force Awakens.

In addition to Star Wars, Fisher was active in the 80s via the films The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters and When Harry Met Sally.

Fisher is survived by her mother Debbie Reynolds and daughter Lourd.

What if the Empire’s plans to create the Death Star were foiled before it was even built? That is the premise of the latest Star Was flick Rogue One, which tells the story of a group of rebels who conspire to steal the plans to the Death Star. Of course, Darth Vader and company won’t be taking this lying down. Rogue One hits theaters on December 16.

It’s finally here. After two teasers, the Star Wars franchise has finally unleashed the official trailer for The Force Awakens. The countdown to Christmas 2015 continues…

The anticipation for Star Wars Episode VII grows with today’s release of the second teaser trailer. The two-minute clip features a new (and presumably more deadly) stormtrooper, another glimpse of that cross lightsaber, and the reappearance of two favorites from the original trilogy.

Hurry up, Christmas.

Who says Chewie doesn’t keep it Hip-Hop? Random Axe’s latest vid follows Chewbacca as he makes his way to Rock the Bells’s San Franscisco stop to support the group. He meets women, RZA, Murs and shows that classic Wookie temper by laying hands on a security guard. Musically, this is one of the best beats on the album. Go support it HERE.
