Stephen King’s dysopian nightmare gets a fresh set of legs in the upcoming adapation of The Long Walk. And from these first-look stills, it’s clear the film isn’t pulling any punches.
The story’s premise, 100 boys forced to walk until only one remains, oozes from the tense body language and terse determination on the characters’s faces. Sweat, exhaustion, and the weight of knowing every step could be their last hang heavy in the air as Garraty (Cooper Hoffman) and McVries (David Jonsson) trade words, their camaraderie overshadowed by the inevitability that one of them must die. The muted earth tones and stark lighting accentuate the mental and physical toll of King’s death march.
The Long Walk hits theaters on September 12. The cast lineup is lead by Cooper Hoffman and backed by David Jonsson, Garret Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, plus the iconic Mark Hamill and an emotional edge supplied by Judy Greer.
