SHEFFIELD — Kell Brook regained his #1 ranking with the IBF with an efficient and focused performance in stopping Vyacheslav Senchenko at the Motorpoint Arena.

Brook established range with his jab and maintained it to take the opening stanza. Senchenko did better with his own left jab to start the second, but found himself back in danger after Brook opened up his offense with pinpoint jabs and right crosses. It would be the latter punch that wobbled Senchenko in the closing seconds of the round.

A Brook chopping right hand dazed Senchenko and had him reeling into the ropes. Brook stay composed and scored a knockdown off a straight right. Senchenko beat the count but remained in serious peril after receiving a right uppercut. Sencheko showed his own grit by fighting Brook off with right and left hooks to survive the round.

Brook had a brief scare early in the fourth when a big counter right hook buzzed him. While recovering on the ropes, Senchenko was able to land a few more hooks before Brook went back on offense with a power jab. A right hand, followed by a short left hook and another glancing right uppercut, would be the sequence that put Senchenko on his face for the final knockdown.

Senchenko beat the count, but showed in body language the fight had left him, prompting the referee to wisely call off the fight.

As an IBF title eliminator, Brook is back in line to face the winner of the tentatively scheduled November 30 bout between champion Devon Alexander and Shawn Porter.

“Nothing will stop Kell Brook from being world champion,” said Brook and Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn in the post-fight interview. “The winner of Alexander-Porter has 90 days.”

Kell Brook improves to 31-0 with 21 KOs. Senchenko falls to 34-2 (23 KOs).

  1. Blimey Ismael you dont hang around brother, your on top of the reporting game here haha

Great performance buy Brook, I think Senchenko is past it now at 36, maybe the Hatton fight took alot out of him, but still I didnt expect such a one sided fight, great job by Kell…

Hatton was ringside, I bet theres abit of him that was thinking ‘how did I not stop him’

Did you guys get the Brian Rose and Antony Joshua fights??? The Rose fight was great, I dont know how one judge had him by 6 rounds though smh I thought he lost by 1 or 2, but he showed great heart, I can see how some had him just winning…

Gonna watch the Arthur Abraham and Hopkins fights now, great night of boxing!!!

    1. The joys of the 24-hour news cycle! I gotta be up on these fights quick lol Unfortunately I just got home in time to catch Brook-Senchenko so I missed the undercard. Heard the Brian Rose fight was an all-action but a robbery? I’ll have to track down that one and the Joshua win later tonight after Hopkins (and still need to watch Abraham’s bout).

We get no televised UK fights over here (SMH) so it’s all streams. Just checked out the Frampton win a few days ago. That kid is a beast and a future champ.

      1. Haha keep it up brother… Yeah the Rose fight was all action, I wouldn’t say it was a robbery it could of gone either way, one of the score cards was terrible though I will say that, I had Rose just losing…

Shame you don’t get any of the UK fights over there, We have some real great fights over here, you need like a BoxNation type channel over there like we got, I heard Dame Dash is setting up boxing TV channel?

Yeah Frampton looks a future champ, especially as he’s already beaten Kiko Martinez, I still think Scott Quigg will get the better of him, I can’t wait for that domestic tear up!
