It’s his song, but Kanye West is sitting out this remix of “All of the Lights.” In the beginning, you’ll feel like you can’t blame him. Lil Wayne is in a syrup and autotune-induced stupor for the first verse. Thankfully Big Sean picks up the momentum with some slick lines like the above mentioned quote. Overall there’s way too much going on with the production and his voice isn’t strong enough to really carry all the way through. Drake is the highlight here when he goes into quick and succinct rhyme flows to start off. He loses his footing half-way through when he steps out of his usual zone and gets a little too animated and vulgar. He settles back down and closes with a cute allusion to his recent Sprite commercial. Something tells me this would’ve come off better if Drake did a solo rendition like when he remixed Rick Ross’ “Aston Martin Music” for “Paris Morton Music.”
