Over 40 years after his untimely passing, the life of music legend Bob Marley finally gets the biopic treatment next year via Bob Marley: One Love (January 12).
Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and produced in partnership with the Marley family, the film chronicles how the singer’s revolutionary message of unity and love made him an international icon but also put the singer at odds with warring government factions.
“Nothing happens before it’s time and now is the time for the story of our father Bob Marley to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming in 2024,” said son Ziggy Marley. “You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became?”
Kingsley Ben-Adir (The OA, Peaky Blinders) stars as the legendary musician with support from Lashana Lynch (Rita Marley), James Norton, Tosin Cole, Anthony Welsh, Michael Gandolfini, Umi Myers and Nadine Marshall.
