Sam Peter ended a three-year sabbatical last night with a first round knockout over Ron Aubrey in Oklahoma City.

Peter, grossly out of shape and at least 300 pounds, didn’t need his old fighting form to easily dispose of Aubrey. A clubbing overhand right out a clinch was all that was needed to put Aubrey down. Aubrey beat the count, but was badly dazed and couldn’t continue.

The win snaps a two-fight losing streak for Peter that started with a September 2010 loss to Wladimir Klitscko (KO10) and an April 2011 defeat to Robert Helenius (KO9).

*****************************

Sam Peter was missing no meals during his three years away from the sport. The American heavyweight scene isn’t exactly a murderer’s row, so Sam Peter could likely secure a TV date in early 2015 assuming he can get his weight under control. As a serious contender, he’s done. But any young guy looking for a name will jump at the opportunity to fight him. Hell, a bout with another aged vet like Shannon Briggs would entertain me (Briggs via early KO, by the way).
