This first episode of 24/7: Pacquiao vs. Marquez held no big surprises. Half of the telecast is a recap of their first two battles. There’s some nice behind of the scenes footage of the aftermath of Jorge Linares’ exciting TKO loss to Antonio DeMarco. In addition, Marquez fans can have some encouragement from how he looks carrying the extra weight. You can already tell there won’t be the 24/7 drama that pulls in the casual fans. Nonetheless, the die-hard fans of both fighters should be entertained.

24/7 is the best sports documentary other than HBO’s Hard Knocks. Their production reminds me so much of the NFL Films stuff I watched growing up, it really captures the mystique and the personalities involved…great first episode.
I especially loved the very beginning, when they are showing Manny get ready and they did the flyovers of the Philippines…for lack of a better word, it just felt so dramatic and inspiring (watch at http://vimeo.com/31283405).
Also, great choice on songs with Caveman’s “A Country’s King of Dreams,” that seems to sum up Manny perfectly. The only thing that could make this better if it were leading up to a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight!
