Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo (20-1, 17 KOs) made his return to the ring a short one as it only took a little over two minutes to dispose of Joseph Gomez (17-5-1, 8 KOs). The noticeably leaner Angulo patiently stalked after Gomez while slipping jabs and looking to land to the body. Gomez kept on the move, but made the mistake of allowing himself to get caught with his back to the ropes. Angulo landed a straight right and left hook to the body to freeze Gomez for a cuffing right cross upstairs. Gomez was already one the way down when Angulo added a short left hook for good measure. Gomez made it to his knees, but his body language showed he had no desire to continue. The win was Angulo’s first bout since last July and also his first under a newly inked deal with Golden Boy Promotions.
