This latest track from Big K.R.I.T. was recorded over a year ago when he first met Yelawolf. Since then the pair have become close, their friendship fueled by their love of Hip-Hop music and culture. “Happy Birthday Hip Hop” celebrates their love of the music with both going back and forth with references to influences like the Geto Boys, Souls of Mischief and UGK. K.R.I.T.’s production is once again on point, this time utilizing a sparse piano melody that’s supported later with sax chords and singing that creates a strong blues feel.
“Happy Birthday Hip Hop” will be included on the K.R.I.T.’s August 18 mixtape Last King 2.
