Sugar Ray Leonard’s NPR Interview

Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard conducted an extensive, 34 minute interview with NPR on his boxing career and other revelations made in his new autobiography The Big Fight.

“The mirror doesn’t lie. It tells exactly who you are.”

“90% of guys go back to a their corner in a tough fight ready to quit. But there’s a few that have that intestinal fortitude and they want to win at any cost…”

Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard conducted an extensive, 34 minute interview with NPR on his boxing career and other revelations made in his new autobiography The Big Fight. Leonard talks about his famous opponents (Hagler, Hearns, Hagler etc.), how to recover from being hurt in the ring and how he almost did not turn profressional. There’s some things I heard that I didn’t know, like Leonard sending spies to observe Hagler’s training camp for weaknesses. It’s always insightful to hear the perspective of a legend, so this piece is well worth the time.
