You knew it was coming eventually. Beyonce has made “you never deserved me anyway” tracks a staple over the last few years, and her latest single “Best Thing I Never Had” continues the trend. Bey’s voice sounds good, but it’s difficult to make such a trite topic sound fresh. The production is sonorous, maintaining a stadium sound you can envision accompanying a romantic comedy soundtrack. This song doesn’t have the genuine, heart-felt emotion of “1 +1,” but releasing them both at the same time is a clever way for Beyonce to hit different radio markets.
