To catch everyone up to speed, Canibus and DJ Premier are going through a disagreement of sorts. It all started a few days ago when DJ Premier did an interview with Vlad TV. When asked who was the most difficult artist to work with, Premier cited Canibus and the issues they had over trying to create the “Nigganometry” track off ‘Bis 1998 debut (Note: Canibus passed on D’Angelo’s “Devil’s Pie” beat). Canibus took it as a slight and dropped the diss record “Tell the Truth/Monsters.” He ends the song with a four-minute diatribe claiming that Premier was unprofessional and late during all their sessions.
Premier took to his radio show last night to address Canibus’ accusations, particularly his negative comments about D&D Studios (“dirty ass D&D”) and his financial compensation from working with Christina Aguilera (stating Preem received $80,000 a track). This issue should have never went public, but alas this is Hip-Hop. Their lives are our entertainment.
