BALTIMORE, MARYLAND– Felicia “Snoop” Pearson was one of 30 individuals arrested this morning in Baltimore for allegedly engaging in a heroin and marijuana criminal conspiracy.
Tha early morning raid was the culmination of a five-month joint investigation between city of Baltimore police, Maryland state officials and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The 30 year old Pearson had previously credited The Wire for turning her life around. At 14, she served six and half years for second-degree murder. On the show she played Snoop, a ruthless enforcer/assassin for the Marlo Stanfield drug organization. With her partner Chris Partlow, she is responsible for dozens of murders on the show.
Since the conclusion of The Wire, Pearson has appeared in videos for Rick Ross and G-Unit in addition to recording songs. She also authored an memoir, Grace After Midnight, on her upbringing.
At press time, the charges Pearson faces are expected to be disclosed today at a 4 PM ET press conference.
Vodpod videos no longer available.

Very sad but not surprising news. Snoop was one of the feel good stories from The Wire. Her life could have easily ended just like her character. It appeared through the book and Hip-Hop work that she was finally getting the second chance many people from her neighborhood never get.
What concered me was if the acting could be sustained. Essentially, she played herself in The Wire, down to the heavy accent. I knew that would severely limit her future work unless she worked on the craft. It appears that’s proven to be true; she’s had no roles since the show’s conclusion in 2008.
With so many law enforcement agencies involved, it’s not looking good. It’s almost certain this will be prosecuted under the RICO statute, meaning extended prison time for everyone arrested if convicted.
More on this story as it develops.
