Apollo Brown “Time Passed Autumn”

With song titles like "Human Existence," "Father and Son" and "A Conscious Breath," it's evident the Detroit producer wants his work to stir listeners at a deeper core that just a head nod.

Apollo Brown was quite busy in 2010, producing three well-received projects with his own The Reset, Boog Brown’s Brown Study, and The Left’s Gas Mask. For 2011, he’s starting off with an instrumental LP entitled Clouds.

Instrumental albums come off well when the artist is able to capture distinct emotions with their arrangements. Exile did that a few years back with his Radio project. Brown seems to be on that same level with his first single, “Time Passed Autumn.” Unlike the more gritty tracks you’ve heard for The Left, Brown goes completely introspective here.  The mournful wails of the melody will conjure up dual feelings of sorrow and immense relaxation. The pulsing hi-hats and drums add just enough kick to give the composition a Hip-Hop edge. Clouds is a project that consists of a staggering 27 instrumentals. With song titles like “Human Existence,” “Father and Son” and “A Conscious Breath,” it’s evident the Detroit producer wants his work to stir listeners at a deeper core that just a head nod.

If that’s your kind of artist, make sure you support come March 1.
