Nicki Minaj’s “Check It Out” Video, Promises to Satisfy All Fans with Pink Friday

"I try to make music, and then I step back from the music," Minaj explained. "I say this type of fan will probably like this, or this type of fan will probably like that. I don't do that prior to the music being made..."

Don’t expect “Your Love” and “Right Thru Me” to define the sound of Nicki Minaj’s Pink Lady. The Young Money first lady is assuring her listeners that her LP will be eclectic enough to leave her diverse fanbase satisfied.

In a recent interview with Philadelphia’s Power 99, Minaj talked about using her music as a cultural bridge to bring different communities together. The Queens natives sees Hip-Hop and greater society as too segregated.

“I try to make music, and then I step back from the music,” Minaj explained. “I say this type of fan will probably like this, or this type of fan will probably like that. I don’t do that prior to the music being made….Hip-Hop should be diverse, Hip-Hop should bridge the gap between cultures. If I’m doing that, whether it’s with pop cultures, or different races, or whether it’s with the gay market, it’s very important and needed right now.”

For older fans who preferred the Minaj who focused more on rapping, she advises them that Pink Friday will meet their lyrical expectations.

“If you were a fan when I was doing the mixtapes and DVDs, don’t feel like you aren’t going to be happy. You’re going to have ample music on the album you’re going to absolutely love,” Minaj stated “The album is like an autobiography. It’s very truthful, but also shows my growth as an artist and a writer.”

Pink Friday comes out on November 22.
