Nicki Minaj “Right Through Me”

The Young Money camp is on their grind today. This morning, Wayne dropped his Drake-featuring “Gonorrhea.” For the afternoon, Minaj hits her fans with what sounds like the new single for her debut Pink Friday.

The track is in the vein of “Your Love,” with Minaj testing her singing chops. The production is reminiscent of a mawkish 80s rock ballad, and Minaj uses compact rhymes schemes to reflect on her appreciation of a significant other that loves her in spite of her faults. It’s a song that her younger female fans will enjoy. Others will  be hand pressed to get much enjoyment out of it.

Earlier this week, Minja reiterated her point that she has some creative content on her album. Her album should not be judged solely on two songs, but the rumblings have already begun that she may forego showing off her lyrical skills in favor of the pop radio lane that “Your Love” has opened up. Those fans she gained with her guest spot on Kanye West’s “Monster” are now raising eyebrows.

Hopefully, she does a balancing act on Pink Friday instead of going the B.o.B. route.
