Mere weeks from his super welterweight debut, Terence Crawford is confident his physical strength will translate into his fourth weight class.
Crawford, who faces the bruising pressure fighter Israil Madrimov on August 3, previously had no issues manhandling brawny opponents like Shawn Porter, Errol Spence and Jeff Horn during his welterweight campaign. But questions abound if Crawford can impose this strategy against Madrimov, a natural 154-pounder with six professional years at the weight.
“Given the weight, the age [and] everything surrounding my career, 154 (pounds) is the best weight for me at this moment,” Crawford told Forbes. “I think I will be stronger even though I’m going up against bigger guys. I’m at a place where I can perform better.”
