NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN, Germay — Arthur Abraham finished the Robert Stieglitz rivalry in devastating fashion via a sixth round TKO last night at the Gerry Weber Stadium.
The key adjustment to Abraham’s game in recent years is moving his feet on defense, allowing him to not be a sitting target when using the high guard. This prevented Stieglitz from landing combinations and gave Abraham the time and space to get off with power shots.
Stieglitz was down in the fourth off a counter left jab and forced to his knees in the sixth from a flush counter right hook. The damage from the last punch prompted Stieglitz’s corner to immediately throw in the towel.
The win was Abraham’s fourth defense of the WBO World super middleweight title he won from Stieglitz last year.
