[Video] Chagaev Blows Out Pianeta in One Round

MAGDEBURG, SACHSEN-ANHALT, Germany — Ruslan Chagaev (34-2, 21 KOs) made quick work of Francesco Pianeta (31-2, 17 KOs), scoring two knockdowns off short, southpaw left hands to score a first round knockout with 3 seconds remaining.

Chagaev was the aggressor and made Pianeta pay inside with overhand lefts. The closing sequence featured Chagaev breaking a clinch and dropping Pianeta with a clubbing shot.

The win is Chagaev’s first defense of the “WBA World” heavyweight title he won by decisioning Fres Oquendo last July.
