MONTE CARLO — The weights are in for tomorrow night’s HBO middleweight title match between WBA title-holder Gennady Golovkin and Martin Murray. Both guys appeared in excellent shape. Martin will be looking to achieve a monumental upset while GGG is vying for his 13 successful title defense. The fight airs live on HBO at 5:45 p.m.

PREDICTION: Martin Murray has proven to be a durable and tough middleweight over his career. You can make a valid argument that he should hold wins over Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez, the latter which would have made him the reigning middleweight champion of the world. With that said, it’s hard to see how Murray wins this bout or lasts the distance. If he tries to walk down GGG behind a high guard like he did Martinez, Murray puts himself in peril for short hooks upstairs and Golovkin’s underrated body attack. And Murray is not nimble enough on his feet to keep GGG at bay fighting off the back-foot.
Murray’s biggest asset will be his size and toughness. An early blowout would be very surprising, but expect a methodical beating that leads to a corner stoppage before the championship rounds. GOLOVKIN RTD9
HBO will air a replay of the fight Saturday evening at 10:15 p.m. (ET/PT).

The thing is Murray cant afford to try and go on the back foot against GGG, but like you say walking him down is gonna be a tough task, GGG doesnt load up but them short hooks and punches are like sledge hammers, plus he is so accurate… GGG mid round KO for me…
Shame its in Monte Carlo its like watching boxing in a restaurant…
RIP Harold Johnson to…
