[Video] Talib Kweli Argues with Don Lemon Over Ferguson Media Coverage

Talib Kweli

When CNN booked Talib Kweli, they likely thought they had a “safe rapper” to discuss the murder of Michael Brown and the subsequent uprising in Ferguson. Instead, Kweli discarded CNN’s usual 90 second format and blasted the network and host Don Lemon for their alleged biased coverage of protesters.

To Lemon’s credit, he stayed with the segment and the tongue-lashing until cooler heads prevailed. In most cases like this, you see the host almost immediately cut the TV spot (as Lemon’s producers urged him to do). Some have already gone to Twitter to criticize Kweli for being hot-headed. But when you consider he was in the Ferguson streets last night and dealt firsthand with the police’s heavy-handed tactics, I can understand him getting emotional.

Watch the unedited clip below and judge for yourself.

  1. That was dope… Talib was genuine to, he was there representing correctly, with respect and dignity and for the sole purpose being there for the cause and not trying to make a spectacle and market himself..
