NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK — The weigh-in results are in for tomorrow night’s Golden Boy Live card headlined by Victor Ortiz’s return against Luis Collazo. Let’s get right to breaking down this card.
ORTIZ: 146.6 LBS.
COLLAZO: 146.6 LBS
PREDICTION: From these pics, Ortiz hasn’t slacked much during his near two-year layoff. Collazo also appears in solid shape. Obviously, this fight is set up for Ortiz to win — he’s younger, bigger and stronger than Collazo, whose last bout against someone on this level was a close decision loss to Andre Berto back in 2009. Since then, Collazo has fought low-level guys and even dropped a clear decision to Freddy Hernandez, who you may remember from Berto blowing him out in one round several years back.
Collazo is a good counter-puncher, but he doesn’t have the power or size to keep Ortiz from mauling him. Yes, Ortiz is a head case, but I don’t think the 2014 version of Collazo has what it takes to test Victor’s heart like Josesito Lopez, Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana did. ORTIZ UD12 COLLAZO
EDDIE GOMEZ: 147.2 LBS.
DAQUAN ARNETT: 148.6 LBS.
PREDICTION: This is a nice matchup of undefeated prospects. Both has shown the ability to stop fights with one punch. I give Gomez advantages in strength, speed and defense. Arnett has a good jab and will have success if he can keep the fight at long range, but Gomez is aggressive and will close the gap quickly. Arnett has problems fighting off the ropes which is where Gomez will do his best work. As long as he looks out for Arnett’s dangerous left hook, I see Gomez dominating this one by the mid-rounds and securing a late stoppage. GOMEZ TKO8 ARNETT

PREDICTION: Seriously? While Miguel Tamayo (14-7-2) is better than Russell facing his usual TBA, this fight getting confirmed several days ago let’s you know how competitive it will be. I’d be shocked if Russell doesn’t stop him. RUSSELL TKO2 TAMAYO
