Kell Brook promoter Eddie Hearn has vowed to block the talks of a Floyd Mayweather-Devon Alexander fight by enforcing his fighter’s signed contract for the IBF welterweight title.
Late last night, Mayweather made the announcement on Twitter and Facebook that the lead opponent for his potential May 4 date is Devon Alexander. This news comes just days after Alexander withdrew from a scheduled February 23 mandatory bout against Kell Brook with an undisclosed bicep injury.
Hearn told Boxingscene.com that he is not interested in “step-aside” money and wants his fighter to get the title shot that’s already been delayed twice via injuries on both sides.
Alexander vs. Brook was first scheduled for January 19 but delayed in December when Brook suffered an ankle injury.
At press time, Devon Alexander has not released a public statement on the rumors.

I didn’t say anything when Mayweather put out his statement because I pretty much disgusted. Devon Alexander?! Seriously? This is a fight NO ONE wants to see and it’s made worse by the fact this supposed “bicep injury” Alexander suffered no looks to be a blatant lie to make way for the Mayweather fight.
The funny thing is Mayweather’s ace in the hole before with these type of opponents was that they were coming off a high-profile win. With Carlos Baldomir, he had upset Zab Judah and brutalized Arturo Gatti. With Victor Ortiz, it was his Fight of the Year slugfest win over Andre Berto. Devon’s last fight was that coma-inducing decision win over Randall Bailey in Brooklyn that had fans raining down boos during his post-fight interview.
Enough of this topic. I’m getting nauseous…

to say im pissed off is an understatement… this sort of thing plagues boxing, and im sick of it, its the one thing i believe the ufc (pardon my language) has over boxing…. i cant believe golden boy wanna get into promoting over here in the uk, and they are trying to mug us off, and kick brook, our fighter out of his long awaited and deserved title shot smh…
