This project is definitely a departure from the lush soundscapes and sexual overtones that make J*Davey special; it’s straight to the gut, a bit easier to swallow, but still edgy.
J*Davey frontwoman Jack Davey has released the “Side A” installment of L0-Fi, an ambitious multi-part EP series exploring a new rock sound.
The project was cultivated after the recent birth of her first child.
“I literally recorded every song in the walk-in closet in my Koreantown apartment during the few moments when my newborn was asleep,” Jack explained. “I was hearing a raw and gritty rock sound in my head and knew that I would have to create it myself in order to get exactly what I was imagining.”
Side A is five songs when she describes as “a quick harmless feat that started off as one long song with five different parts.” It will be followed by Side B on November 6 and concludes with L0-Fi deluxe edition on December 11.
