Nicki Minaj On the Purpose of Roman Reloaded’s Experimental Sound: “I Might Have Longevity.” [VIDEO]

"As long as I can continue to experiment, then I might be doing music in 10 years..."

Over the past few months, Nicki Minaj has had a mixed reception to the leaks from her Roman Reloaded album. Songs like “Stupid Hoe” and “Roman In Moscow” have been panned as directionless trash while dance pop like “Roman Holiday” and “Starships” has made their way to the top of Billboard charts. Then there’s songs like the title track and “Beez In the Trap” that are clearly aimed at trying to re-establish her tenuous Hip-Hop roots. Things really got interesting last week when the Roman Reloaded tracklist and guests seemed to confirm an album that would be split right down the middle between dance pop and Hip-Hop.

In the below video from her cover shoot for Complex Magazine’s 10th Anniversary issue, Minaj explains what fans can truly expect from Roman Reloaded. The entire interview, penned by Hot 97’s own Miss Info, and additional photos can be viewed HERE.

ON WHERE HER CAREER WILL BE 20 YEARS FROM NOW

I always said There’s no way I could still be doing rap, ‘cause what will I still be talking about? But now that the public has given me this opportunity to do all types of music,  I might have more longevity. As long as I can continue to experiment, then I might be doing music in 10 years. I know that I don’t feel like I need to be doing music in 10 years to feel fulfilled. And I don’t want to be one of those people who doesn’t know when to call it quits.  Let’s just say that.
